It’s that time of year again and Chinese New Year is rapidly approaching. On 4th February (New Year’s Eve) China will shut down to celebrate New Year. This is the biggest event in the Chinese calendar and the entire country shuts down for two weeks with many factories shutting for 4 weeks.
If you need supplies from China it’s not too late but you need to place your orders now if you want to get them shipped before the great shut down. Your goods need to be on a ship before 4th February and there is always a rush in the last few days as everyone scrambles to get there goods away. The cost of getting your container a berth on a ship does tend to rise at this time of year especially as you get close to the shutdown date so book shipping early. For most goods you need to allow a couple of weeks for the factory to manufacture your order, and then 5 days to transport to port and obtain China customs clearance. Add a few days on at the beginning to negotiate and place your order, pay your deposit monies and the deadline for beating the New Year shut down is very close upon us.
So don’t delay pick up the phone and place your orders now to avoid disappointment.
